Teaching your dog to give a formal alert.

Getting the dog to alert close to the scent
Once the dog knows the game you don't have to reward right away. At a trial you will be calling alert, then possibly talking to the judge before the dog is rewarded. We want the dogs to be indicating where the hide is that entire time without any cues. You can see in the beginning fo the video that he is not getting close to the hide on the desk. I reward him so that he has to get close. Then follow with a search of the same space, same hide. In the second search he immediately goes up to the scent.
Abbreviations
This is a compilation I have created from many different sources of the organization abbreviations and different titles that a dog and handler can earn. They are listed alphabetically along with the full name and a definition of the title where available. To date I have found 670 different titles. Please let me know if you know of more!
